Tromsø: 3-day guide

We've been to Tromsø and experienced it firsthand. In this guide, we’re sharing what we think is worth doing in three days - places to see, food to try, and activities that made our trip memorable. If you want to catch a glimpse of our adventure, you can follow along on our social media or check out more by clicking here.

Whether you're visiting for nature, adventure, or just to soak in the Arctic vibe, this guide will help you make the most of your time in Tromsø

Day 1

Fjellheisen cable car

Start your trip with the best view of Tromsø. The Fjellheisen cable car takes you up Storsteinen Mountain (421m) in just a few minutes.

At the top, you can walk around, enjoy the scenery, or grab something warm at the café. In winter, this is also a great spot to watch the Northern Lights.

We recommend buying tickets in advance, but if you don’t, no problem - you can line up at the station and purchase them from the ticket machines. The price is a bit high, but it’s worth it for the view.

Day 2

Fjord cruise

One of the highlights of our trip was the fjord cruise.

We went on a tour with Brim Explorer, which usually lasts about 3-4 hours.

As we cruised through stunning fjords surrounded by snow-capped mountains, we enjoyed the hybrid-electric boat, which provide a quiet and eco-friendly experience. Along the way, the guide shared fascinating insights into the local environment, wildlife, and Tromsø’s history. We also had the chance to step outside the boat and explore some fishing areas while learning about the region’s fishing traditions.

Day 3

Sami reindeer experience

On our final day, we had the chance to join the Sami Reindeer Experience with Tromsø Arctic Reindeer. It was a fantastic way to dive deeper into local culture.

We learned about the Sami people, fed the reindeer, and even got to try reindeer sledding - a fun, traditional activity. The experience is set in a beautiful natural setting, and if you’re lucky, the Northern Lights might make a surprise appearance while you’re there, making it even more magical.
